MG MGA
The first version, the MGA 1500, was officially launched at the 1955 Frankfurt Motor Show.
This ladder-framed roadster, with a steel body and rear-wheel drive, was powered by a 1,489 cc B-series inline-four engine derived from the MG Magnette sedan, producing 68 hp (51 kW), mated to a 4-speed gearbox. In 1956, the instruments were redesigned, and a hardtop was offered as a factory option, initially made of aluminum, then of fiberglass covered in black vinyl. In November 1956, the Coupé version was launched, identical in design to the roadster with the hardtop installed, but featuring better upholstery, side windows, and exterior door handles. In 1957, the engine was boosted to 72 hp (54 kW).
